Over $750,000 in goods were seized by the RCMP from Cycle Logic in August 2012.

Kelowna, British Columbia — October 11, 2013 — The B.C. government has filed civil forfeiture proceedings against a Kelowna “chop shop” with alleged ties to the Hell’s Angels.

The lawsuit, which was filed in the B.C. Supreme Court, was submitted by the office of the B.C. director of civil forfeiture. The office is seeking to have possession of over $750,000 transferred to the provincial government which the suit alleges were obtained through unlawful activity.

The vehicles and parts noted in the suit were obtained during an August 2012 RCMP raid on the premises of Cycle Logic, a business purported to specialize in building, repairing and selling motorcycles and other vehicles. When the RCMP conducted its raid, they also discovered a number of Harley Davidson motorcycles with their vehicle identification numbers removed.

Following the raid, West Kelowna council stripped Cycle Logic of its business license pending the investigation into their alleged criminal activity.

The business’s owner, John Newcome, was charged with numerous offences, including possession and trafficking of stolen property. Members of the Hell’s Angels, Throttle Lockers and Kingpin Crew were also accused of trafficking stolen goods out of the alleged chop shop.

There has been no formal response filed from Newcome or Cycle Logic, the defendants in the case. The Hell’s Angels have not been named in the suit, however, a constitutional challenge has been filed on the group’s behalf aiming at the provincial government’s civil forfeiture laws.
