Back to Class: I-CAR is set to resume in-shop welding, hands-on training

Toronto, Ontario — I-CAR USA has announced that auto body shops may once again take its welding certification tests, receive hands-on training courses and obtain in-person knowledge assessments to waive classes.

The organization will be restarting its in-person sessions at facilities that comply with the COVID-19 protection protocols it has developed.

In March I-CAR was forced to stop live courses in response to the COVID-19 pandemic but is now finally able to begin reopening with many precautions.

Before deciding to open up live classes again I-CAR conducted outreach to instructors to ensure everyone was comfortable with the idea. The organization says they will continue to monitor the situation and will pause in-class training if it becomes necessary to do so again.

I-CAR also announced that 30 day delays of renewal dates for Gold Class shops, Platinum technicians and welding certificate holders are in effect. However, deadlines for shops and technicians that were announced May 1st will still stand.
