B.C invests more than half a million in E.V chargers

Toronto, Ontario — June 27, 2019 – Collision repairers should prepare themselves for more E.Vs on the road as government of Brisith Columbia has just announced they will be investing more than half a million dollars into electric vehicle charging stations in B.C.

B.C. has one of the highest densities of electric vehicles in Canada, with more than 12,000 registered EV’s in the province. It is predicted that there will be approximately 300,000 EV’s in the province by 2050.

“Electric vehicles are an important part of Canada’s clean energy future,” said MP Stephen Kuhr last week. “We are committed to supporting initiatives that encourage widespread adoption of zero-emission vehicles,”

The funding is coming from Natural Resources Canada and will go towards 12 electric fast-charging station. Two of the chargers will be placed at the Kelowna B.C airport.

“Electric vehicles are an important part of Canada’s clean energy future, and we are committed to supporting initiatives that encourage widespread adoption of zero-emission vehicles,” airport director Sam Sammadar told Global News.

“Airports have a large role to play in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and advancing sustainable transportation options.”

It takes a fast-charging station approximately half an hour to recharge a car and costs only $9.

This initiative was  launched to increase EV use in the province, lessen “range-anxiety,” and encourage a more sustainable future of mobility.
