Toronto, Ontario — Twelve vehicles have officially been announced as the finalists for the 2024 Canadian Car of the Year Awards (CCOTY).
The awards are presented annually by the Automobile Journalists Associations of Canada (AJAC) and this year, include four categories.
These categories include: the Canadian car of the year; the Canadian utility vehicle of the year; the Canadian electric car of the year; and the Canadian electric utility vehicle of the year.
For the Canadian car of the year award, finalists include the Acura Integra Type S, the Honda Accord, and the Toyota Prius.
Meanwhile, in the Canadian utility vehicle category, finalists include the Genesis GV70, the Mazda CX-90 and the Toyota Grand Highlander.
For the new Canadian electric car of the year award, the Genesis Electrified G80, Hyundai Ioniq, and the Toyota Prius are in contention for the top spot, while the Genesis Electrified GV70, Hyundai Ioniq 6, and Kia EV9 are in the running for the new Canadian electric utility vehicle award.
“We are thrilled to have Canadian Electric Car of the Year and Canadian Electric Utility Vehicle of the Year categories joining the established Canadian Car of the Year and Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year awards,” said Jason Campbell, General Manager Canadian International AutoShow, in a statement.
The winners of each category will be announced on February 15 at the Canadian International Autoshow in Toronto, Ont.
According to Campbell, the four winning vehicles will remain at the show for attendees to see in-person.
