Robo Recall:
Amazon’s Alexa is set to get further integration in vehicles according to a release by Transport Canada. Along with preexisting navigation and entertainment functionality, the A.I. assistant will be offering a new service called “Vehicle Recalls Canada.”
The open-source project aims to allow the user to give Alexa the make, model and year of their vehicle and immediately receive any relevant recall information from the Transport Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Recalls Database, either through a voice message or by a text.
Vehicle Recalls Canada directly combats the statistic that more than a quarter of Canadians ignore or simply do not know when a vehicle recall occurs. By making the research process more user-friendly, it is designed to widen the scope of recall awareness.
EV Tech in Quebec:
The Canadian government is doubling down its greener vehicle solutions. An announced $2 million investment is heading to Mogile Technologies to develop two experimental EV innovations.
The Quebec-based company specializes in EV technologies. Its first project plans to test a new EV charging solution, designed to reduce stress on the power grid during peak hours, as well as allowing utilities to change the desired power output and charging price depending on the load use of the vehicle.
The second project plans to make a single account that EV drivers would use at any charging station, which Mogile Tech says will streamline the paying process.
“To get more Canadians on the roads in electric vehicles right now, we have to simplify the charging experience,” wrote Simon Ouellette, CEO of Mogile Tech. “To make these choices ubiquitous in the future, we need to build an infrastructure that optimizes available energy resources. With our ChargeHub Passport payment solution and our ChargeHub Central infrastructure management system, we will do just that.”
