Toronto, Ontario — August 27, 2019 — TruRoad, North America’s second-largest automotive glass and claims-management company has been sold to the largest, Safelite.
On August 19th,Safelite’s parent company, Belron, announced it had reached a deal with the TruRoad Group.
“In 2007 we welcomed Safelite to Belron and watched the business grow to be the largest, most respected leader in the industry. Today, it’s an honor to do the same with TruRoad,” wrote Gary Lubner, Belron’s CEO. “It’s going to be a wonderful and prosperous future for our companies.”
Safelite owns 7,800 glass shops in the U.S. alone. With this acquisition, it will be gaining TruRoad’s network of more than 5,000 independent auto glass facilities. Safelite’s communications director Keriake Lucas, wrote in an email Saturday that the TruRoad-labeled locations will need to be renamed.
“All brands will convert to Safelite,” she wrote. “We deeply respect and admire the combined businesses of TruRoad and the associates who have worked hard to build the success of each… We will invest time in getting to know more about each other and welcome the feedback of associates as we develop our strategies and timetable.”
Safelite has yet to confirm if any layoffs or shop closures will result from the buyout.
