Quebec City, Québec — The law firm representing a class of dissatisfied Honda Civic owners announced Tuesday that the six-month period to receive reimbursement for early paint degradation is now open, following judgment from the Superior Court of Québec to approve the settlement in the Daunais Class Action.
From Sept. 30 to March 31, 2023, owners of 2006 to 2013 Honda Civic and 2006 to 2011 Acura CSX vehicles purchased in Quebec who have experienced paint degradation are entitled to a settlement of up to $2,675.
The firm representing the Daunais Class Action against Honda Canada, CBL and Associés out of Granby, Que., listed the following possibilities for settlement:
- Receive up to $2,550 to have your affected vehicle repainted by an authorized auto body shop
- Obtain cash compensation of a maximum of $1,530, or 60 percent of the amount allowed to have your vehicle repainted
- Get reimbursed up to $2,550 if the vehicle has already been repainted due to early paint degradation
- Obtain compensation of up to $1,530 if the vehicle was resold at a loss due to early paint degradation
