BURLINGAME, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aperia Technologies Inc., a leading supplier of tire management technologies that improve the safety and efficiency of commercial vehicles, announced today its Halo Tire Inflator® proven technology can help address tire health issues identified in Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) roadside inspections, where tire violations ranked #2.
In September, CVSA conducted its annual roadside inspections in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The three-day event culminated with the CVSA imploring fleets to focus on tire health for safe vehicle operation.
According to CVSA, a total of 59,026 inspections were conducted this year, a nearly 20,000 increase in inspections over 2021. Of all Level 1 North American Standard Inspections conducted, 23.1% of commercial vehicles met the out-of-service criteria, with 18.5% due to tire violations. Tire violations ranked number two behind brake system violations in North America.
The CVSA inspections aim to ensure commercial vehicles operate safely and are designed to be robust in assessing vehicle maintenance and driver operations. So, while many truckers guilty of vehicle or operating violations remain undetected, tires have repeatedly topped the list as a top safety violation for these random inspections.
Halo, a proven, self-powered automatic tire inflation system (ATIS) for tractor drive tires and trailers, uses a wheel’s rotation to maintain optimal tire pressure. It improves fuel economy and road safety while reducing tire expenditures, downtime, and maintenance costs.
“Technology, like the Halo Tire Inflator, is designed to address this top safety issue,” said Judith Monte, Vice President of Marketing & Client Success at Aperia Technologies. “Halo resolves more than 90% of tire health issues and delivers a rapid ROI through enhanced fuel economy and tire life.”
