Calgary, Alberta — Members of the collision repair and insurance industries were at Blue Devil Golf Club on Thursday for the annual Crash It golf tournament. According to Emile Fremont, one of the tournament organizers, 175 industry representatives were in attendance for the golf day and subsequent banquet.
This year’s tournament was hosted in charitable support of Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids, a non-profit organization that was the tournament’s first charity many years ago.
“We’re excited to work with them again,” said Fremont. “They have worked for more than 30 years to ensure kids in Calgary have access to food. Food insecurity affects one in four children in Alberta and it is Brown Bagging for Kids’ mission to connect and inspire people to take meaningful action to feed and care for kids.”
Fremont said $16,000 was raised throughout this year’s tourney.
The Crash It Golf Tournament started at the Calgary Regional Appraisers Southern Hospitality Invitational Tournament and began in 2002 as a social event in the auto collision insurance and repair industry. It has now evolved into a great day of fun for the industry that sells out quickly every year.
“This year’s tournament was the best one yet!” said Fremont. “Special thanks to my fellow committee members: Scott Lavery, Greg Wing, Phil Jennings and Mark Sturby, as well as our volunteers, Blue Devil Golf Club and our sponsors.”
Major sponsors of the tournament were PPG, AAA Towing, BASF, Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes, CSN Collision Centres, Color Compass Corporation and Uniparts O.E.M. The golf cart sponsor was Advanced Coatings, while KHS Global sponsored the beverage cart.
