Toronto, Ontario — On June 15, Nissan revealed the all-new design for the 2021 Nissan Rogue, where the company disclosed that almost the entire vehicle ranging from the hood, to the fenders, all the way to the doors will be made out of aluminum.
Some aluminum is already in the 2020 version of the Rogue, however, in the 2021 design there is a substantial increase in the amount used.
Aluminium is not the only material used, however—other parts of the vehicle include 35 percent ultra-high-strength steel. This makes the vehicle a mixed-material crossover, which means knowledge of restrictions on joining, repairing and sectioning higher strength steels will be necessary for anyone who has to work on the vehicle.
It is likely that in order for a shop to perform repairs they would have to be able to have the space and equipment to separate steel and aluminum work.
Repairers are also warned not to reuse one-time use items on aluminium parts.
