Stratford, Ontario — October 21, 2015 — It is with deep regret that we must announce the passing of Al Tapley, owner of Nick and Dan’s Collision, with locations in Stratford and St. Marys, Ontario. Tapley, age 66, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving children on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Stratford General Hospital.
Tapley was born in Stratford, son of the late Stan and Gwen Tapley. He was a proud father of his three children, Kate Tapley, Andrew Tapley and Angie Canning, and highly valued his canine companion, Holly.
Tapley started his career with Perth Motors in Stratford, before opening and operating Stonetown Tires and Collision in St. Marys. In 2000, he acquired Nick and Dan’s Collision from the Festoso family. With his team, Tapley grew the business over the years, expanding to a second location. The facilities are central parts of the communities they serve, regularly sponsoring softball, soccer and sports teams, as well as donating and fundraising for the Stratford Rotary Club and other community services.
Tapley was predeceased by his only sister Susan Robson. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of his life at the Stratford Country Club, 53 Romeo Street North, Stratford, on Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 1 to 4 pm.
In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Stratford General Hospital Foundation or to the Stratford Rotary Club – Stratford/Perth Hospice Project through the W. G. Young Funeral Home at 519-271-7411 or through this link.
