Ottawa, Ontario — You could be the next member appointed to the Automotive Industries Association of Canada’s (AIA Canada) board of directors.
Every year at AIA Canada, two or more directors complete their term on the board. It is the responsibility of the nominating committee to propose a slate of new directors for consideration to the AIA Canada board of directors and then to the entire membership at the Association’s annual general meeting (AGM).
“The association is seeking directors who will at all times act in the best interest of the entire association, who will willingly share their own knowledge and expertise, and who are willing and able to devote time and effort to AIA Canada on a volunteer basis,”according to the press release.
In addition, specific skills that support the goals and strategic direction of the AIA Canada business plan will be considered assets. Previous experience as volunteer, preferably within AIA Canada will also be of consideration.
Being an AIA Canada directors comes with a very significant responsibility and requires attendance at all board meetings each year (two-three per year) and availability for conference calls (one-two per year).
The following attributes are considered valuable in an AIA Canada director: active association member and motivator; the ability to conduct meetings; being a leader within the industry; great communication skills; legal and financial expertise, listening skills and the insight to foresee problems, present concerns and offer a solution.
Other attributes that will make you stand out is with you area of knowledge, such as, strategic planning; consumer education programs; government lobbying; experience in environmental program development; knowledge of vehicle inspection programs; market research; training program development; experience in heavy duty market and lastly, experience in the tool manufacture business.
