Surrey, British Columbia — The government of British Columbia announced Tuesday that it has opened up a new funding stream to support automotive technicians, and other tradespeople, in completing their education at the Ace Trades and Technical Institute (ATTI) in Surrey, B.C.
The lower mainland trade school is set to receive more than $560,000 to help support its automotive technician, millwright and welder programs, thanks to a new project from the province’s Community and Employer Partnerships fund.
The institute completed its first intake of full-time students for 2023 on Monday, kicking off 10 weeks of essential employment and technical skills training, four weeks of work experience with local employers, and one week of follow-up support to prepare participants for work, according to the press release.
“ATTI is excited to provide participants with training that leads to technical skills, certification and practical experience that employers in the trades sector are looking for,” said founder and CEO of ATTI, Supneet Chawla.
“This program supports people to achieve their trades-certification goals and gain the practical skills required to excel in their future careers.”
