Pocket Money: $25,000 raised so far by AIA for Kids Chairman’s Challenge

Toronto, Ontario – The 2022 AIA High Fives for Kids Foundation Chairman’s Challenge has topped $25,000, with donations from nearly 30 aftermarket organizations funding childrens’ camps, scholarships and the like.

In 2021, the Chairman’s Challenge raised $30,000 for children and youth charities across Canada. This year, some of the gathered funds will go to a new scheme to help kids through higher education.

Imaginatively named the AIA Canada High Fives for Kids Scholarship, this program assists the children of AIA Canada members in their post-secondary educational pursuits, including technical schools, colleges and universities.

This annual scholarship will award selected candidates up to $1,000, and has an application deadline of Sept. 15 every year.

To qualify for this scholarship, one parent must be a full-time employee of an AIA Canada member company and verify their employment status.

Additionally, the applicant must be currently enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program leading to a certificate or diploma, submit a one-page essay, a referral letter and proof of enrolment along with their application.

“For more than 30 years, the scholarship program has offered hundreds of thousands of dollars to support students pursuing careers in the automotive aftermarket,” said Jean François Champagne, AIA Canada’s president. “While making a meaningful difference in the lives of the recipients, the program also helped shape the future of the sector.”
