Calgary, Alberta – A severe Alberta storm made its way across Alberta on Monday and into Tuesday, leaving destruction in its wake.
Baseball-sized hail was the main culprit of the damage, as it fell from the sky Monday onto unsuspecting drivers commuting on the Queen Elizabeth II highway in Alberta. The hail forced cars on the Alberta highway to pull over and wait out the storm, with the fear of damage and dangers on drivers’ minds.
More than 70 cars have been reported damaged in the downfall, with windows and windshields being smashed in by the falling hail.
The storm impacted both north-and southbound lanes, but no road closures were evident.
The RCMP set up a triage station, helping drivers in need. They also helped transport any drivers stranded due to damage inflicted on their vehicles.
A tornado was also seen touching down outside of Coronation, Alberta.
Drivers should remain cautious when driving in severe weather and should attempt to stay home unless absolutely necessary.
