North Bay, Ontario — Starting July, police officers in North Bay can look forward to reporting crashes on smartphones.
In an interview with BayToday, North Bay’s police chief said the app would be rolled out to investigating officers in July as a timesaving measure, fast-tracking necessary documentation.
Previously, collision reporting paperwork for investigating officers involved filling out a form and checking off boxes over multiple diagrams, then collecting information from drivers, insurers and vehicle information.
According to Scott Tod, North Bay police chief, the app allows officers to complete the report online, sending it immediately to the department’s Collision Reporting Centre. Rudimentary measurements could be made, shortening the processing and waiting time for drivers appearing to report the collision.
The North Bay Police Department did not respond to an inquiry on potential uses of the app for insurers and collision repair claims.
