Charlotte, North Carolina — May 4, 2015 — Skin care doesn’t usually seem like a workplace issue, but an occupational skin disease (OSD) can seriously impact a technician’s productivity. Taking steps to prevent them from cropping up in the first place can be a vital part of health and safety management.

The Deb Group has released a new e-book titled “Does my Workplace Need Gloves, Hand Cream or Both?” which discusses strategies for reducing the risk of OSDs.

“Approximately half of industrial workers wear gloves on a regular basis and face ongoing challenges related to skin health, which can affect overall productivity and efficiency,” says Isabelle Faivre. Faivre is the Vice President of Marketing for Deb North America.

According to Faivre, a complete skin care program, including pre-work creams, can save money and improve productivity.

The Deb Group e-book discusses steps that shops can take to protect employees. Among other topics, the e-book dips into cultural issues that may keep employees from either reporting an OSD or taking the steps needed to prevent it in the first place. According to the e-book, some workers may even look at cracked and irritated skin as proof that they’re a hard worker.

The e-book is available for free download here
