Barrie, Ontario — March 6, 2016 — The value of entrepreneurship in the automotive aftermarket cannot be overstated. Encouraging entrepreneurs builds a strong industry for all participants. Georgian College and the Automotive Industries Association (AIA) of Canada have recently completed work on a project dedicated to strengthening the spirit of entrepreneurship.
Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario, is the home of the Automotive Business School of Canada. The school offers two programs unique in Canada: the Bachelor of Business Automotive Management degree and the Automotive Business diploma. The College is also home to a newly completed space for automotive entrepreneurs: the Aftermarket Business Lounge.
The project was made possible thanks in large part to a donation of $250,000 from AIA Canada. AIA Canada’s donation was made in support of Georgian’s fundraising campaign, The Power of Education: Transforming the Student Experience.
The donation and the project were announced in April 2015. The project has now been completed and the College’s new “change maker space” will hold its grand opening event on April 12, 2016.
The Aftermarket Business Lounge is a dedicated space for students to use to work on collaborative projects, as well as to learn more about the AIA through multimedia displays.
