Mississauga, Ontario — October 2, 2015 — It was a special night at the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Peel annual Gala in Mississauga, when two long time CARSTAR multi-store owner (MSO) groups came together to make an impact on their shared community.

While some might assume neighbouring territories may cause competition, nothing could have been further from the truth, explained Peter Chavez of the LC Group. “We’ve been close friends with Sam and the Saccoia group for most of our careers … we were thrilled that we had the opportunity to work together on such a special project.”

Representatives from CARSTAR’s LC Group and Saccoia Group came up with the idea to refurbish and donate a vehicle together, to a worthy local organization.

Robin Juns and Sam Saccoia, of LC and Saccoia Groups released a joint statement detailing their reasons for supporting the organization. “Giving this vehicle to BBBS of Peel is more of an investment in the future than the present. This organization is dedicated to supporting youth in the community and so are we.  The fit was a natural one,” the statement reads.

By leveraging shared business relationships and working closely together, the two owners were able to source, repair and paint a vehicle. The donation is sure to have a positive impact on the community.

After being presented with a low kilometer 2012 Chrysler Town and Country, Shari Lynn Ladanchuk,President & CEO of BBBS Peel Chapter explained, “It’s an amazing act of generosity which will make a huge impact. This van will allow our agency to transport youth to community functions and agency programs and will also be used for agency special events.”

CARSTAR has locations across Canada, but part of the company’s philosophy seems to be encouraging its repair facilities to make a different locally. Jeff Moriarty, Regional Development Manager for CARSTAR sums it up. “Sometimes you have to look after your own community and hope you can inspire otherto make a difference in theirs,” he says.
