Regina, Saskatchewan — Sunday marks the beginning of Skilled Trade and Technology Week in Saskatchewan, and the provincial government is hoping it can steer some young talent toward our underserved trades industries.
The province is encouraging schools to bring in apprentices and tradespeople to present to students on the many fulfilling career opportunities that exist in the trades, and in particular, in collision repair.
As well, the government in collaboration with ChatterHigh has put together an online quiz that rewards students with prizes, all while informing them about career opportunities in the trades. The competition runs until Nov. 4.
“The Government of Saskatchewan is pleased to proclaim Skilled Trade and Technology Week in Saskatchewan,” said Immigration and Career Training Minister Jeremy Harrison.
“Careers in the skilled trade and technology sectors are rewarding. The people who pursue these pathways make valuable contributions to our province’s economy. It’s important for us to celebrate them, especially now. Workers in these sectors have provided essential services throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.”
