Nashville, Tennessee — AkzoNobel unveiled its 2022 Color of the Year last month: Bright Skies, a sky-blue hue designed to inspire optimism in the company’s coatings and finishes.
“In 2022, Bright Skies will help us embrace new ideas and shape a new future,” said Heleen van Gent, creative director of AkzoNobel’s Global Aesthetic Centre. “The colour reflects the limitless skies above us, giving us the space to redefine the role of our homes, nature, the arts and new voices in our lives. As consumers look to express themselves and transform their spaces, our aim as colour experts is to inspire their colour confidence.”
Bright Skies follows Akzo’s 2021 shade, Brave Ground: a warm and grounding neutral beige hue designed to evoke feelings of stability.
AkzoNobel’s annual trend analysis and colour research are translated by paints and coatings experts across the company into colour, products and inspiring visual content. The trends are also translated into the automotive and specialty Coatings, coil and extrusion coatings, powder coatings and wood coatings businesses. Tailor-made colour palettes are developed for the aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, metal furniture, domestic appliances, cabinetry, flooring, building products and architecture markets.
