Toronto, Ontario — The Ford Bronco is finally back in the OEM’s lineup and has already hit its first roadblock, as the NHTSA has launched a recall on the 2021 model’s airbags.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration launched the recall in response to reports of the 2021 Ford Bronco’s passenger-side airbag deploying prematurely.
The recall is expected to affect up to 553 hardtop Broncos across the U.S., specifically those with build dates between July 18, 2021; and August 17, 2021. Owners will be mailed notification letters in November, and dealers will replace the passenger air bag, free of charge.
No injuries have been linked to the defect as of yet.
Transport Canada has not yet listed the recall as being in effect in Canada, however, drivers can check their vehicle identification number (VIN) here, as the situation is updated.
