Gormley, Ontario — August 18, 2014 — The annual Antique and Classic Car Show drew in crowds of all ages to help mark its 41st year.
Held at the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum & Community Centre on the afternoon of August 10, the show presented a vast array of antique and vintage vehicles, including the selected feature car, a 1959 Kurtis Kraft 500J.
The event also showcased live music from Howard Ross and the Full Count Blues Band, the presentation of the People’s Choice Award and the Drivers’ Choice Awards for the picks of best truck, antique, early classic and contemporary classic show models, a 50/50 draw as well as heritage demonstrations—like rope-making and musket firing—taking place in the site’s many historical buildings.
Children were kept entertained in a kid-centric zone including heritage-inspired games, a bouncy castle, spelling bee, magic show, balloon animals, an ice cream making demonstration, races and an organized scavenger hunt.
Various vendors were present with an array of refreshments, offering event-goers freshly made sandwiches and pies in the Visitor’s Centre, with hotdogs, hamburgers, sausages, fries, poutine, ice cream and lemonade made available on site.
Admission was free to auto exhibitors and children under three, with tickets for adults and families of 4 ringing in at $5 and $15 respectively.
