Fanshawe College latest training provider to join TrainingMatters.ca

Toronto, Ontario — October 7, 2013 — Media Matters, Inc., is pleased to announce that Fanshawe College in London, Ont., has joined the ranks of training providers listing their courses on TrainingMatters.ca, the collision repair industry’s training portal. 

Fanshawe College offers a three-year Auto Body and Collision Damage Repair  apprentice program for those registered as apprentices. Fanshawe offers three levels of in-school apprenticeship training, each eight weeks in duration and for those that qualify EI supported with living and travel allowances.
 
In Level 1, students are trained on common trade practices, multiple welding technics, panel fabrication, paint application and vehicle construction and design. During the eight weeks the students complete various training modules to prove competencies in these given subjects
 
Level 2 studies focus largely on painting complete vehicles, light vehicle repairs and various vehicle systems. These subjects are taught through Fanshawe’s live work program, where students repair and work on live customer vehicles, which are to be started and finished by the individual teams of students in that given intake. 
 
Level 3 focuses on advanced industry techniques again with live wrecks supplied by various public outlets. The students learn estimating, advanced painting technics, vehicle frame repairs and sectioning.
 
Throughout the collision repair program, Fanshawe College hosts various industry experts and OEMs as guest speakers to give an overall industry perspective. As well, there are industry sponsors for the program, allowing it to stay on top of current trends, products and methods.
 
After graduation, Fanshawe offers a Certificate of Qualifications Exam Preparation course to prepare the students to write for their licence.
