Cranbrook, British Columbia — A CARSTAR location in Cranbrook, British Columbia showed its ability to take on whatever job comes its way, when a neighbouring volunteer fire department showed up at their doors with a truck that needed a fix-up.
When the Village of Canal Flats Fire and Rescue Service (CFFR) was looking for a replacement for their outdated 1994 GM crew cab, they ended up coming away with a 2006 model year fire truck from the Calgary department that was in need of some love.
So, they turned to their closest CARSTAR location, an hour south in Cranbrook, for help in bringing the truck back to its former glory.
“It’s not every day that we see a project like this come through our doors,” said Nichole Zippel, office manager of CARSTAR Cranbrook Signal Collision.
“It’s important for us to give back to the community we serve, so we performed extensive work on this truck at a significantly discounted rate.”
Zippel’s team got to work on the truck, restoring extensive chipping damage around the wheel wells and addressing fading paint in a number of areas.
“Canal Flats might be an hour away from Cranbrook, but that is just another reason why the Kootenays are unique,” said Zippel.
“We are a widespread but close-knit community, and we were happy to give back to these deserving volunteers with our repair services.”
The CFFR is a volunteer department with 16 members, providing fire and first responder aid to its community.
