Toronto, Ontario — Canada will continue to receive face N95 masks from 3M, despite previous efforts by the White House to stop the masks headed north-of-the-border.
According to a 3M press release, the deal will allow 3M to keep “sending U.S.-produced respirators to Canada and Latin America, where 3M is the primary source of supply.”
While the masks may continue to make their way to Canada, they are unlikely to appear in the country’s repair facility inventories. Commonly used in collision repair facilities, 3M’s safety masks are considered vital to the safety of frontline medical workers during the Coronavirus outbreak.
In fact, despite the deal, some Canadian hospitals are still turning to the private sector for assistance in securing safety masks. Across Canada, hospitals have set up websites providing instructions for collision repair facility owners to donate unopened boxes of N95 masks.
