Paint and Putts: BASF Canada hosts annual golf tournament

Mississauga, Ontario — You won’t find any chipping from BASF-affiliated bodyshops, but there was surely some chipping Tuesday as BASF Canada hosted its annual golf tournament at the Lionhead Golf Club and Conference Centre in Mississauga, Ontario.

The tournament has run for 30 years and began as an event for BASF Canada’s automotive refinish team and partners.

“Today, all of our businesses from agriculture to chemicals and beyond come together,” said Mark Huisman, business manager, automotive refinish for BASF Canada. “We had a record turnout today, too–almost 300 golfers.”

The day began with breakfast before a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The company’s partners and vendors from all across BASF Canada’s verticals—including, of course, the automotive aftermarket—took to the green for a day of friendly competition.

On-site was a BASF-painted racecar, courteously lent by Peter Woo of Excellence Auto Collision.

After 18 holes in near-perfect golfing weather, golfers headed to the clubhouse for a reception and lunch, where the winning team and winners of the longest drive contest were announced.

“This event is really about our customers,” said Huisman. “There’s no long speeches; no big PowerPoint presentations. It’s just a thank you to our customers for their loyalty and their friendship.”

This year, the BASF Canada team collected non-perishable food items to be donated to a local food bank.
