Edmonton, Alberta – Oct. 16, 2019 — Mayfield Toyota, Western Canada’s largest Toyota dealership in terms of volume, is relocating into the country’s largest shopping mall.
The dealership is moving to Edmonton, Alberta’s iconic West Edmonton Mall, saying it requires more space in order to accommodate its growing staff and sales volume. The planned store will be approximately 29,450 square metres and include a 10,870 sq. m. showroom as well as an 18,580 sq. m. multi-level parking deck with a detail centre.
Mayfield Toyota opened in 1998 at the intersection between 102 Avenue and 170 Street, less than two kilometres south of the mall. The dealership and the mall partnered in 2012 by sponsoring the Mayfield Toyota Ice Palace, the shopping centre’s indoor skating rink. Mayfield Toyota has also utilized the space for several on-ice sale events throughout the years.
Mayfield Toyota will take over space that was once occupied by a Sears department store. The dealership’s amenities will include 65 service bays, valet service at the various mall entrances, detailing packages, over-the-counter parts purchases, tire sales, swaps and storage, windshield repair and more, according to the dealership.
More than 30.8 million people visit West Edmonton Mall every year, according to its website. It also boasts the world’s largest parking lot with room for 20,000 vehicles, according to West Edmonton Mall landlord Triple Five.
Construction is set to begin March 2020 and expected to be completed in the spring of 2021.
