B.C. shop’s innovative way of making waiting room more inviting

Toronto, Ontario — July 2 – A collision repair shop in B.C. has been deemed one of the “best waiting areas,” by the Automotive Service Association, despite their very limited space.

Foreman’s Integra Auto and Tire proved that waiting rooms don’t have to be dull and undecorated, no matter how long (or short) customers have to wait. The Langley shop instead used bright colours and unique design elements to keep their shop more inviting and less intimidating for first-time customers, and received an honourable mention for their design.

Manger Peter Foreman believed one often intimidating part of a CR waiting room is the massive counter taking up space where customers often wait for sevice.

“My idea was to avoid the big counter kiosk that is a barrier between me and the customer – the ultimate goal was to open that up,” said Foreman.

As a solution, the shop made a tall, bright-red counter out of tires, small enough for customers to walk around and eye-catching enough to make them want to stay.

The need to implement creative ways to make customers feel more welcome like Foreman did shouldn’t go unnoticed.

A recent study shows that 56 percent of millennials would rather clean their whole home than spend time waiting at a dealership or auto shop – 24 percent of them would rather get a root canal.

ASA hopes by rewarding shops that go the extra mile to make customers feel more welcome, it will encourage others to do the same.

“We are always excited when we can honour those in the auto repair industry who are doing great things,” said a representative from ASA.
