Toronto, Ontario — For the 10th consecutive year, BASF has achieved a top score in the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index.
The Human Rights Campaign Foundations’ Corporate Equality Index (CEI), is the United States benchmarking tool on corporate policies, practices and benefits pertinent to LGBTQ+ employees and workplace inclusivity.
In its 2023-2024 corporate survey, which surveyed a total 1,384 respondents, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation recognized 545 businesses that met the criteria to earn a score of 100 and the designation of being a 2023 “Equality 100 Award: Leader in LGBTQ+ Workplace Inclusion” recipient.
To earn top ratings, employers had to have demonstrated concrete steps to establish and implement comprehensive policies, benefits and practices that ensure greater equity for LGBTQ+ workers and their families.
Of the companies surveyed this year, 97 percent of CEI rated employers explicitly include sexual orientation and gender identity as part of their nondiscrimination policy and 94 percent of the companies surveyed (a record 1,298 of the 1,384 respondents) offer at least one transgender-inclusive plan option with current market standard coverage.
In response to its 10th consecutive award, BASF posted on LinkedIn that “as an Equity 100 Company, we reaffirm our commitment to equality in our workspaces—for LGBT+ individuals, and all colleagues.”
