Toronto, Ontario — January 15, 2019 — Roadshow by CNET announced the winners for the annual SHIFT Awards at the North America International Auto Show. Now in its fourth year, the award program recognized five winners.
Distributor of the Year:
The nominees included Mike Flewitt, CEO of McLaren Automotive, Travis Vandenzanden, CEO of Bird, a scooter company. The winner in the end was Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla.
Cabin Tech of the Year
The runners-up for this category included Mercedes-Benz for its MBUX user interface and Ram, for its Uconnect 12-inch display. Audi took home the award for its MMI Touch Response, a dual screen that scored high points for its user interface.
Safety Tech of the Year
General Motors was nominated for its Advanced Trailering System with Apps, and Tesla for Navigate on Autopilot update 9.0.The award went to Audi for its Drive Assistance Package with zFAS and lidar.
Driveline Tech of the Year
Nominees in this category included Hyundai for its Kona electric powertrain platform and Tesla for its all-wheel drive Performance powertrain. The winner was Nissan/Infiniti for its VC-Turbo variable compression.
Vehicle of the Year
Again, there were three nominees, Jaguar’s I-Pace electric SUV, Volvo’s S60/V60, but the winner went to the Genesis G70.
