CompliancePoint offers auto industry added security

By CRM Staff

Toronto, Ontario — January 8, 2019 — CompliancePoint has launched a cyber defence package designed exclusively for the automotive industry.

The company said its data privacy offering will test firms’ breach responses by bringing in experts who will attempt to hack systems and expose their weaknesses.

It comes after more than 100 manufacturers – including giants such as General Motors, Ford, Toyota, Volkswagen and Fiat Chrysler – suffered a devastating attack in 2018.

The companies lost confidential reports, trade secrets and employee information.

Among the data made available were assembly line schematics, contract information and robotic configurations.

It takes companies an average of 197 days to even identify a data breach, and then on top of that another 69 days to contain it, a Forbes report last year claimed.

The report also found that the average cost of a breach was about $3.86 million – but can be higher for larger companies.

CompliancePoint’s new resources are designed to protect manufacturers, lenders and dealers.

Its services include mobile and wireless testing and online application vetting, alongside mock-breaches overseen by trusted professionals to show firms the potential routes a hacker might take to get into their systems.
