Egbert, Ontario – Calling all auto technicians! David Mayers, CEO and co-founder of Environmental Motorworks recently took to CTV to promote Environmental Motorworks and the Auto Prof’s next upcoming partnered electric and hybrid vehicle masterclass.
The week-long course runs for eight hours daily and presents technicians with a hands-on opportunity to learn the ins-and-outs of battery repair, safe diagnostic strategies, and safe de-powering strategies.
During the interview with CTV, Mayers noted the importance of the course and maintaining a continued awareness of constantly evolving electric trends because “you can use battery systems and motor systems that don’t need to have a diesel engine running constantly, and it can be very economical.”
During the coverage, Mike Bailey, owner, instructor, and course developer of the Auto Prof, further noted that having a routine EV and hybrid masterclass is important because it offers “hands-on and good work habits.”
For many technicians, EV and hybrid repair is new ground and so it is important to prepare–especially when learning how to safely deal with higher voltages.
“We’ve been dealing with 12 to 24 volts typically,” Bailey said, “now [technicians] are dealing with 200 to 900 volts depending on the vehicle” and so it is important to be aware of these changes.
The next EV and hybrid masterclass will be scheduled for September 25, 2023 in Egbert, Ontario. To register, interested parties can visit https://www.theautoprof.com/ or contact Lisa Demers at lisa.demers@collegeboreal.ca.
