Toronto, Ontario — The organization responsible for skilled trades training in Ontario is gearing up for its first ever industry summit on apprenticeship training, currently on the calendar for the first week of May.
The province’s recently minted trades certification regulator, Skilled Trades Ontario (STO) plans on “Unleashing Ontario’s potential” at this upcoming gathering of ideas and insights, set for May 3 at the Toronto Congress Centre.
Deputy Minister of New Brunswick’s Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour, Dan Mills, will serve as the keynote speaker for the event, in addition presentations from Melissa Young, CEO and registrar of STO, and Monte McNaughton, Ontario’s own Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development.
The full-day event will also include workshops, panel discussions with employers, apprentices, and industry partners, as well as the launch of STO’s first strategic plan.
Tickets for the event are already on sale, running for $135, however, employers can bring an apprentice with them for a discounted price of $80.
