Pennsylvania, United States – Axalta has won three 2023 Edison Awards, with one of the winners being AquaEC Flex, an electrocoat specially designed for electric vehicles (EVs).
The other two award recipients were the Abcite 2060 coating for large metal structures and the self-priming kitchen cabinet coating.
According to a company press release, AquaEC Flex is a next-generation, sustainable electrocoat that cures over a wide range of temperatures, allowing OEMs to produce EVs and combustion vehicles on the same assembly lines. It also produces 60 percent fewer volatile organic compound emissions and uses 15 percent less energy.
“Our recognition is testament to how Axalta continues to innovate smarter surface solutions for better living and a sustainable future. We are committed to providing the quality, innovative products, and services our customers have come to expect,” says Robert Roop chief technology officer at Axalta.
The Edison Awards are an annual award recognizing innovative new products, services, and business leaders, and became an independent organization in 2008.
