Toronto, Ontario — January 31, 2018 — 3M’s Transportation Safety Division is launching a North American Roadshow that will travel to 50 locations throughout the United States and Canada showcasing the latest 3M road safety technology and innovation. 3M has designed a custom 53’ tractor trailer that will offer interactive experiences that include in-person and virtual demonstrations of the latest innovations.
“Our roadshow tour will present innovative roadway and vehicle solutions to many of the problems that drivers face, such as reduced visibility due to inclement weather, nighttime driving, and the hazards encountered in work zones,” says John Riccardi, VP and GM, 3M transportation division. “The existing and future technologies showcased help make the driving experience safer for everyone.”
The tech-infused tractor trailer which mirrors a NASCAR hauler, will offer interactive demonstrations from 3M’s Transportation Safety Division in:
Virtual Reality – experience the possibilities of next generation autonomous vehicle technology and how they interact with lane markings, work zones and traffic signs
Custom Sign Creation – Create a personal sign using the latest printing technology from 3M transportation technologies
Anti-Graffiti – Showcases recent advancements that allow signs to be kept clear and legible
Fluorescent Technology – Provides participants with a unique understanding of how fluorescent signs enhance visibility to drivers in dawn, dusk and inclement weather conditions.
A partner in the Toward Zero Deaths campaign, 3M is committed to increasing the safety and mobility of North American highways and roadways. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (US), in 2016 alone, more than 37,000 people died on roadways, a 5.6 percent increase from 2015. The 3M Transportation Safety Division develops technologies that improve the driver experience and help to prevent accidents and fatalities that occur because of weather, work zones, visibility and limited infrastructure.
