Appleton, Wisconsin –- August 25, 2011 -- I-CAR has announced it will launch a new instructor-led training course focused on Ford’s vehicle-specific parts and repair procedures.

The I-CAR course, Collision Repair for Ford and Lincoln Vehicles (FOR05), was developed by I-CAR in conjunction with the Ford Paint & Body Technology Center. The course will debut in September.

The course provides information on service and parts for Ford and Lincoln vehicles, including collision repair position statements, different construction materials, vehicle features and repair considerations, according to I-CAR. Additionally, information on electrical and mechanical systems that are specific to Ford vehicles and preparing parts for corrosion protection coatings and refinishing procedures will also be covered in the course.

“The ability for I-CAR to develop and deliver Ford-specific training helps support the collision industry by providing an overview of key topics that are relevant to individuals who repair Ford and Lincoln vehicles,” said Bill Stage, director of marketing and distribution for I-CAR. “I-CAR is glad to have established its relationship with Ford Paint & Body Technology Center and believes that individuals working in the collision industry will be better positioned to provide Ford vehicle owners with a complete and safe repair. Proper training on Ford vehicles will help repairers reduce the possibility of rework and maintain the overall integrity of the vehicle.”

Toronto, Ontario -- August 4, 2011 -- AYCE Employment Services is accepting applications from licensed collision shops that are looking to take on an apprentice.

According to AYCE, the program will aid shops and the industry by bringing in fresh new hands who want to be in the trade. As well, the company says the apprentices are hard working, dedicated and skilled applicants and the financial benefits that will help offset the cost of training.

The program is funded by the Ontario government, which means shops will receive a subsidy of $1,680 for each 12-week apprenticeship. Apprentices are expected to work 35 hours per week for 12 weeks, which works out to a $4/hour subsidy. As well, shops will receive an additional $1,000 signing bonus once a student as been registered as an apprentice, says AYCE.

AYCE is holding a career fair on August 11, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at 670 Progress Avenue, Units 14-16 in Scarborough, Ontario, where interested shops can interview potential apprentices.
