Nordson says its Trilogy spray gun provides highest kV for painting PDF Print E-mail

Amherst, Ohio -- November 13, 2012 -- Nordson Corporation says its Trilogy Electrostatic Spray Gun System delivers the highest kV in the industry at 93 kV, thereby increasing transfer efficiency, reducing material costs and improving part finish.

With the strongest electrostatic load lines, voltage remains consistently high even as gun-to-part distances change, ensuring high efficiency coverage. According to the company, when Trilogy guns are equipped with Nordson air caps, they produce fine particle atomization at lower pressures for improved paint-to-part transfer with minimal overspray. With a Trilogy system, extreme fan pattern control from four to 20 inches is also achieved through fast, easy air adjustments that can accommodate varying part configurations. Nordson says the increased transfer efficiency and fan pattern control saves money on coatings and rejects.

Trilogy spray systems are designed with coating versatility in mind. Featuring two atomization technologies – air spray and high volume, low pressure (HVLP) – Trilogy systems deliver superior application performance with a variety of substrates, coatings and part profiles. In addition, switching from air spray to HVLP and back is simple, requiring only the change of a nozzle. Trilogy systems are also available in manual or automatic gun models that incorporate the latest in engineering and design materials.

“Nordson pioneered liquid coating technology and we continue to provide innovative solutions to the industry,” explains Brad Syrowski, business development manager for Nordson’s liquid systems group, for Nordson’s liquid coatings group. “We’re excited to offer a product like the Trilogy gun, which takes painting performance to a new level. Not only does it provide superior application properties, but it’s easy to use and can meet most any application requirement.”

Nordson Corporation says other benefits of the Trilogy system include:

- Automatic current limiting allows for greater control of charging, which translates to better part coverage whatever the part profile
- Ergonomic, handle-forward design provides better balance and improved operator comfort
- Quick-flush fluid passages for ease of cleaning and maintenance
Rugged gun bodies minimize maintenance costs and downtime
- More than 50 fluid tip and air cap combinations for even greater flexibility

AkzoNobel’s stickerfix DIY paint solution debuts at SEMA 2012 PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 05 November 2012 11:41

Applying stickerfix takes only seconds. Unlike with the old touch-up bottles that shops used to give customers, there's no mess, no potential for evaporation and no brush marks.

Norcross, Georgia -- November 5, 2012 -- AkzoNobel chose the 2012 SEMA Show the perfect backdrop to unveil the industry’s first-ever pre-coated, adhesive film DIY paint solution—stickerfix. The new solution is unquestionably an advance of the old bottles of touch-up paint that a shop would provide customers.

Scheduled for immediate distribution to U.S. and Canadian automotive retail outlets in early 2013, stickerfix harnesses advanced ultra-thin adhesive film technology together with the colour match capabilities of AkzoNobel’s premium Sikkens waterborne coatings, to create a revolutionary method for helping car owners conceal paint scratches and chips any time they need it.

“We were extremely encouraged about the enthusiasm we received from consumers during the initial field trials,” said Troy Russell, Commercial Manager North America, Stickerfix Vehicle Refinishes. “AkzoNobel has taken a bold step in developing a unique product that takes the finish quality of a professional body shop repair straight to the consumer. No other DIY paint solution comes close to the color match, ease, and speed with which consumers can quickly deal with unsightly scratches and chips.”

With stickerfix, minor paint damage disappears in three easy steps:

• Clean – Wipe dirt and grime from the area of application.
• Select and Stick – Select the appropriate size and shape of pre-painted and pre-cut film piece. Peel off and affix the adhesive film to the desired area.
• Smooth – Gently smooth out the area to give it a shiny new look.

Preparing the product to give to the customer is almost as simple. The painter simply paints the stickerfix card at the same time the vehicle is being painted, ensuring an accurate colour match is achieved.

Randy Profeta of AkzoNobel demonstrates the speed and ease with which a painter can prepare stickerfix. A few passes with the gun and it's ready.

Stickerfix is available in 79 premium refinish colours, including select pearls and metallics. Each stickerfix package contains one sheet with 22 pre-selected decals of various shapes and sizes.

Hobart upgrades Handler 140 wire feed welder PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 29 October 2012 10:48

Hobart Welding Products has upgraded the durability and performance of its Hobart Handler 140 wire feed welder.

Appleton, Wisconsin -- October 29, 2012 -- Hobart Welding Products announced that it has added several new upgrades to its Hobart Handler 140 wire feed welder, making the industry’s best value MIG welder even better. The upgraded welder now features an industrial cast aluminum wire drive system that provides durable, consistent wire feeding performance, along with a new five-position voltage control selector that increases arc control and a thermal protection indicator light that alerts the user if the welder is becoming overheated. A heavy-duty 200-amp work clamp rounds out the upgrades. The work clamp features a rugged, plastic-dipped handle to improve the user’s grip and a wide opening for attaching to thick materials.

In addition to these upgrades, users can still expect the same features found on previous Handler 140 wire feed welders. Hobart says this lightweight welder (only 57 pounds) makes it easy for the user to transport so they can weld wherever or whenever they need. The company also says the Handler 140 wire feed welder offers excellent arc performance, ensuring a smooth, stable arc on any material thickness. A convenient polarity changeover offers users quick, easy access to change polarity for welding with solid or flux-cored wire, while an angled panel control increases visibility to the user interface to make adjustments easier. Dual-groove quick-change drive rolls make it simpler for the user to change from one wire diameter to another. The unit is capable of running mild steel (.023 to .035 inch), stainless steel flux-cored (.030 to .035 inch) and aluminum (.030 inch) wires.

The Handler 140 wire feed welder operates on standard 115/120-volt (20 amp) home circuits and offers an output range of 25 to 140 amps, allowing users to weld 24 gauge up to 1/4-inch steel. Hobart Welding Products backs the unit with its exclusive 5/3/1 Industrial Warranty. Users can expect protection for their investment and coverage on critical components for up to five years.
