Watervliet, New York -- November 19, 2012 -- Norton has launched the new TORQ Paint System with SpillGard. Norton TORQ Paint System is manufactured with the company’s proprietary SpillGard technology, comprised of a quick-connect lid, innovative self-sealing valve and triple seal. Because all components are disposable, paint technicians bring a completely clean system into the booth every time, eliminating the possibility of contamination.
The quick-connect lid is simply and securely locked onto a spray gun with a click technicians can hear and feel. With the innovative self-sealing valve, Norton TORQ Paint System with SpillGard eliminates the need to use plugs for transporting, storing or shaking. Three separate seals within the unitized lid and liner assure paint remains inside the cup, ensuring no leaks.
“Paint is a large portion of business for body shops so it is critical to make the process as efficient as possible,” says Biagio P. Pellegrino, Senior Product/Market Manager – Norton Automotive Aftermarket. “The new disposable TORQ Paint System with SpillGard gives shops an edge on efficiency – technicians can prepare the paint in advance and ‘grab and go’ as needed, with minimal clean up.”
The Norton TORQ Paint System with SpillGard is packaged in 24-count ready-to-use dispenser boxes. With an extra large filter size and expanded space between the filter and the tower the Norton TORQ Paint System with SpillGard allows for increased volume for optimum flow. The self-sealing lid is offered in various filter sizes for both solvent and waterborne paints.

Elk Grove, California -- November 19, 2012 -- ALLDATA has released upgrades to its ALLDATA Repair and ALLDATA Collision products in response to valuable customer feedback.
"A lot of companies say they listen to their customers," said ALLDATA President Jeff Lagges. "When we say it, we mean it. From the very beginning, we looked at our customers as partners in the process. We have welcomed their feedback, both complimentary and critical, to help us develop and deliver the best information, management and communication products in the industry."
In addition to a fresh look and feel, the company says the new generation ALLDATA Repair S3000 and ALLDATA Collision S3500 user experience has been enhanced with additional customer messaging; expanded, yet simplified search capabilities; improved filtering by information type; and an improved saved article feature. Some functionality has been repositioned for greater convenience. ALLDATA's legacy repair products also have received updates.
A new "library request" button within both the ALLDATA Repair and ALLDATA Collision products brings up a simplified form for requesting additional or needed mechanical and collision repair data. ALLDATA maintains the largest database of vehicle manufacturers' repair information in the industry and information is continually being added. But for customers who need help finding procedures for just-released models, pre-1982 vehicles, or other obscure data, ALLDATA Research Library staff quickly responds with needed answers.
"ALLDATA is staffed with people who know the car business," said Lagges. "We employ many certified technicians, service writers, parts people, and shop owners, as well as people who are actively involved in the industry. We know what our products need to achieve, but we also understand that we can learn from the men and women who are out there every day pulling codes, turning wrenches, and sectioning frames. These updates are the direct result of hearing what they have to say."

Mississauga, Ontario -- November 16, 2012 -- PPG's Envirobase High Performance and Aquabase Plus waterborne brands have received the Good Housekeeping Seal. The announcement was made by Greg Benckart, vice president, Americas, PPG Automotive Refinish.
The Good Housekeeping Seal is issued by Good Housekeeping magazine and granted to products that have been evaluated by the Good Housekeeping Research Institute (GHRI). Before earning the Seal, the scientists and engineers at GHRI review the product to ensure it delivers on all claims made in its advertising, packaging and other informational materials. If the product does not perform as promised or does not meet established standards for quality, it does not earn the Seal. The Seal has been reassuring consumers about their product-purchasing decisions for more than 100 years and is one of the most recognized and respected consumer symbols in the market today.
"The Good Housekeeping Seal is one of the most trusted emblems of product quality in today's marketplace," said Benckart. "We have always been very confident about the quality of our products and back them fully. Having the GHRI recognize Envirobase High Performance and Aquabase Plus as brands our collision centres and their customers can rely on is something we are proud of and hold in high regard."
PPG collision centres using Envirobase High Performance and Aquabase Plus may display the Good Housekeeping Seal in their shops and in promotional materials reassuring shops and consumers that the products used in their refinish work are backed by an esteemed symbol of quality.

Amherst, Ohio -- November 13, 2012 -- Nordson Corporation says its Trilogy Electrostatic Spray Gun System delivers the highest kV in the industry at 93 kV, thereby increasing transfer efficiency, reducing material costs and improving part finish.
With the strongest electrostatic load lines, voltage remains consistently high even as gun-to-part distances change, ensuring high efficiency coverage. According to the company, when Trilogy guns are equipped with Nordson air caps, they produce fine particle atomization at lower pressures for improved paint-to-part transfer with minimal overspray. With a Trilogy system, extreme fan pattern control from four to 20 inches is also achieved through fast, easy air adjustments that can accommodate varying part configurations. Nordson says the increased transfer efficiency and fan pattern control saves money on coatings and rejects.
Trilogy spray systems are designed with coating versatility in mind. Featuring two atomization technologies – air spray and high volume, low pressure (HVLP) – Trilogy systems deliver superior application performance with a variety of substrates, coatings and part profiles. In addition, switching from air spray to HVLP and back is simple, requiring only the change of a nozzle. Trilogy systems are also available in manual or automatic gun models that incorporate the latest in engineering and design materials.
“Nordson pioneered liquid coating technology and we continue to provide innovative solutions to the industry,” explains Brad Syrowski, business development manager for Nordson’s liquid systems group, for Nordson’s liquid coatings group. “We’re excited to offer a product like the Trilogy gun, which takes painting performance to a new level. Not only does it provide superior application properties, but it’s easy to use and can meet most any application requirement.”
Nordson Corporation says other benefits of the Trilogy system include:
- Automatic current limiting allows for greater control of charging, which translates to better part coverage whatever the part profile
- Ergonomic, handle-forward design provides better balance and improved operator comfort
- Quick-flush fluid passages for ease of cleaning and maintenance
Rugged gun bodies minimize maintenance costs and downtime
- More than 50 fluid tip and air cap combinations for even greater flexibility
