Columbus, Ohio -- May 14, 2012 -- Mac Tools has made some recent additions to its line of Compo-Cast Dead Blow hammers. The Compo-Cast line’s unique Uni-Cast construction offers a tool safe for non-spark and non-corrosive environments on multiple applications. Mac Tools Compo-Cast hammers feature a Dual Face head design and a double flange textured handle for greater accuracy and safety. The Dual Face design offers the technician two hammers in one; a tapered, slim-line head to offer an extended reach and a standard flat head.
“With Compo-Cast hammers, technicians can feel confident striking any surface in any environment,” said Bob Blue, Mac Tools product manager, hand tools. “We’ve designed these new hammers with a level of maximum control, strength and durability that exceeds what is currently on the market.”
Mac Tools says the innovative hot urethane Uni-Cast construction of all Compo-Cast hammers outlasts the competitor’s soft face striking tools and provides shape-retaining faces even after repeated striking on hard surfaces and sharp edges.
Compared with a conventional hammer, the design has a molded flat surface on the top end for ease of use and safety. This feature allows the hammer to stand upright on its head, reducing the risk of the tool falling into a pool of oil or grease. The flat surface on the top end also makes it simple for the user to quickly reach out and grab the hammer while working beneath a vehicle.
The dual head features a standard dead blow on one side and an extended reach slim-line head on the other. This unique design allows the technician to simply flip the head to perform multiple striking tasks using a single hammer.
The double flange textured handle provides a secure grip and the curved design allows a technician to accurately perform mid- or full-range motion strikes by simply moving their palm up and down. The double flange butt ensures that the hammer won’t slip out, even in a full swing.
The new Compo-Cast Dead Blow hammers will be available in five sizes: 15 ounces (CH15DS), 21 ounces (CH21DS), 28 ounces (CH50DS), 48 ounces (CH54DS), 56 ounces (CH58DS).

Pittsford, New York -- April 26, 2012 -- AirbagSolutions, an online provider of airbag service information, has announced a partnership with Mitchell. Under the terms of the agreement, the AirbagSolutions website and database can be directly accessed via Mitchell’s shop workspacesolution—RepairCenter —providing critical OEM requirements for airbag service to shops and insurance carriers. Launched April 26, 2012, this functionality will help shops improve estimate quality, improve cycle time and save money on missed or unnecessary restraint system parts and procedures.
AirbagSolutions says the integration allows shop estimators to anticipate the entire scope of airbag service on deployed systems by providing OEM requirements for specific vehicles before the estimate is committed — a critical improvement in the current estimating process.
The unique photographic presentation, organized by year make and model and by deployment type, allows for quick identification of OEM requirements, possible peripheral damage, code identification and light resetting procedures all on a single page.
“We are thrilled that Mitchell understands the value AirbagSolutions will bring to the shop workspace,” said Douglas Gan, President and COO of AirbagSolutions. “By reducing airbag related supplements and increasing efficiency, both shops and appraisers will, in turn, be doing a better job for their customers. An accurate estimate means faster cycle times, which is good news to all Mitchell RepairCenter users.”
