The Canadian paint and coatings sector represents approximately  $6 billion in sales for consumers of decorative, industrial and automotive products. More than half of the paint products are manufactured in 261 production establishments across Canada and the remainder is imported as needed. 

 

The automotive and construction markets are among the key economic drivers in Canada generating significant economic impact. Along with decorative and protective products used in the construction industry the automotive paint refinishing sector is substantial. 

 

The large automotive manufacturers and the collision repair industry are large users of commercial coatings. The direct and indirect jobs created by all activity in the paint and coatings sector in Canada is estimated to be 32,800.
