December 3 - San Diego, CA - Courage, strength, farsightedness, and nobility: the Eagle symbolizes them all. Countries worldwide use the Eagle insignia on their flag to represent such powerful traits, sometimes even printing it on their currency. The Hall of Eagles is no stranger to the widely appreciated symbolism of the winged creature, and only awards the certain collision repair industry members who fit the Eagle's profile. Each year, industry members vote in those who best deserve the prestigious honour of becoming a member in the Hall of Eagles. In its first running year, 20 people were voted in; this year, there was only one: Eugene "Gene" Scambray of CoPart Auto Auctions. With 44 years of industry experience, Gene has worked in all sectors of the collision repair industry, but started in 1963 as a Material Damage Claims Representative with AAA Auto Insurance in California. "It's an honour to be inducted in the Hall of Eagles because there's a lot of individuals who are very well known around the industry and are a part of it who nominate you and vote to get you into the Hall," Gene said. Despite the fact that Gene retired almost 10 years ago, he has no intention of slowing down too much. Gene remains active in all stages of the industry, and expects to stay that way for some time to come.
