HAMILTON, ON -- October 22, 2009 -- Ontario’s automotive repair trade associations, in co-operation with the Ontario Ministries of Labour, Environment, Training, Colleges and Universities, WSIB and the Ontario Service Safety Alliance are presenting a series of three workshops/seminars with guest speakers in southern Ontario. The evening events will feature collision repair and bodyshop assistance, grants and incentives updates as well as health and safety assistance with simplified environmental compliance help.

The events promise to help shop owners with meeting health and safety compliance requirements and using new paint products.

Ministry of Labour officials, who are conducting a targeted inspection program in the Peel to Durham corridor (and up to Barrie), will also provide updates on their program. Also included are presentations from the Ontario Service Safety Alliance (OSSA) on shop assistance packages, Ministry of Environment officials with spray booth Certificate of Approval information, association updates and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and Employment Standards data.

These workshops are designed to assist collision repair facilities to meet compliance requirements, sustain improved environmental and safe and healthy operations and profit from grants and incentives offered. Apprentice hiring credits and significant tax reduction rebates including special loans on booths. and other equipment are offered.

Wednesday, November 25, 2009 OADA/TADA auditorium, 85 Renfrew Dr., Markham

Attendees are urged to arrive 45 minutes early for student led tours of the autobody labs for North Peel and Centennial College locations.

Meeting attendance is no charge. An OSSA WHMIS training cd-rom that can train up to 19 persons in your shop is free to all those attending and filling out an evaluation feedback form.
