It's finally back up. After being hacked, our Forum is running. Don't know what happened to the first...some say it was intentional, other say it was a fluke, but the forum is here again.

So, start talking it up!!!

Last time around, accreditation was taking centre stage. What's your view?

I'm frankly a little leery of any kind of accreditation, whether it comes from the government or from "the industry." In a way I think we would probably be better off with the government stepping in. At least they're elected and accountable. With "the industry" taking charge, who do we complain to when we don't like it? We won't be able to complain to the government, because they'll just say "This was industry led. If you don't like it you can lump it."

I think we should wait to see what the final accreditation product looks like before getting ahead of ourselves or better yet, get involved to make sure the area of accreditation you are concerned with is addressed.
Does anyone really think the current way the industry works is just fine and is assuring the vehicles are being repaired by professionals in a safe fashion? I have personally viewed repairs in hundreds of facilities and would have to say that I know this is not the case. Bottom line, the industry needs a recognition system of some sort to protect and educate the public first of all and the reputation of the industry second.

I've got to say that I'm will Bill on this one. If you want to make sure that the accreditation system is fair and balanced, then get involved with the process. You may not be able to make it to every single CCIF meeting, but you could probably make it to at least one a year, and that would put you in contact with the repairers who do go to every single one.
